Projects for 2011

Much loved TV show Jim'll Fix It made a return to our screens on 26 December 2011. Hosted by Shane Richie, the show made the dreams of children from across the UK come true.

J&C Joel manufactured an 80 metre by two metre drape made of red Joelastic (JOS006) which was suspended over the show's set and made in the image of the red ribbons which adorned the show's legendary 'Jim Fixed it for Me' medallions.

J&C Joel manufactured perimeter curtains for the Joyden Hall, a flexible multi-purpose performance and events venue based in the Iluma Theatre in Singapore.

The hall's perimeter curtains are manufactured from burgundy double sided Deko Molton (DEK039) and lined with black Molton (MOL001). Deko Molton is an ideal fabric for perimeter curtains, events and exhibitions due to its light weight and wide range of colours.

J&C Joel manufactured front of house curtains for the school's theatre manufactured from a specially dyed cognac Heavy Velvet Velour (VEL023) along with backing curtains in J&C Joel's Premier Blackout (PB001) fabric.

The International School of Bangkok (ISB) has provided a high quality western education to English speaking children living in the Thai capital for sixty years.

J&C Joel's Glittercloth fabric made its stage debut at the Norwich Theatre, where it gave a truly sparkling performance.

J&C Joel supplied 1.4 metres of blue Glittercloth (GLI041) to the Theatre Royal's production department, which was used to dress a prop dragon for a stage show.

Two Tone legends The Specials took to the stage once more for their 2011 UK tour, performing in front of a printed gauze backdrop manufactured by J&C Joel.

The gauze backdrop was one of the main projection surfaces used during the tour and was manufactured from bespoke flame retardant polyester gauze printed with The Specials' logo in white lettering 11 metres wide and over three metres high.

After four-year closure the Kallang Theatre in Singapore reopened in 2011 and is staging Singapura: Lion City, a musical and acrobatic extravaganza chronicling the history of Singapore.

J&C Joel manufactured black masking curtains for the Kallang Theatre's stage in black 300cm wide Molton (MOL002), including legs, borders and a stage backdrop.

J&C Joel's Joelflex range of stretch fabric and carpet took centre stage as Mel Brooks' hit musical The Producers came to the Albert Halls in Bolton.

The roller blind units were made using a bespoke bonded wool serge which both reduces sound reverberation within the lecture theatres and blocks sunlight entering the rooms when video projection equipment is in use.

As one of the best equipped specialist colleges for Humanities and the Arts within the Liverpool area, Gateacre School's theatre hosts a busy programme of drama, dance and music performances.

The world of Yamaha in Johannesburg is the home of Yamaha in South Africa. The complex showcases all of Yamaha's products, with superbikes and jet skis sharing the floor with pianos and audiovisual products.

The showroom also contains a café, cinema and theatre space, for which J&C Joel manufactured a complete set of stage curtains in black Molton (MOL002).

Performing music from a career spanning more that 35 years, the Lady in Red singer appeared on a stage dressed in drapes made from J&C Joel's mulberry velvet velour and white sharkstooth gauze.

The Vuyani Dance Theatre is a dance company performing on the South African theatre circuit whose shows explore the human conditions through contemporary African dance and music.

Jomeleon, a sheer Trevira voile, has amazing iridescent qualities which come out when pleated or backlit. The installation undertaken by J&C Joel has produced a shimmering canopy of colour that helps to create a fantastic atmosphere for conferences, seminars and live performances.

J&C Joel took a journey to the dark side of Gotham City and provided black Joelmat flooring (JM008) for the European media launch event for the Batman Live stage show, which hits UK arenas in July 2011.

Batman Live combines action, acrobatics and illusion and will feature Batman and Robin and a rogues gallery including the Joker, the Penguin, Catwoman, the Riddler and many more.

J&C Joel worked alongside interior fittings specialist Abrahams & Carlisle to install a range of acoustic duvets and roller banner sin the MediaCityUK complex in the Saford Quays, Manchester.

MediaCityUK is home to the BBC, ITV and the University of Salford among others and J&C Joel's acoustic solutions were installed in a multi purpose recording studio and the philharmonic performance studio, home to the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra.

J&C Joel installed 49 acoustic roller banner units in the Apex Centre, Bury St Edmunds' newest multi purpose community venue.

The bonded wool serge banner arrangement can be altered in order to cater the venue's acoustics to any performance or event.
